Dr. Weil and Activator Chiropractic

logo-copy.jpg

Dr. Weil has begun to endorse chiropractic care of a certain variety. Here’s the News Release from the Activator Methods website talking all about it.

What I like best about Activator Methods Technique is the Scan. This method of checking for nerve system dysfunction allows us to quickly and easily check any joint to determine normal responses or abnormal responses, and to quickly and easily determine where and in which direction to make a correction. It’s especially nice for patients who want to stay healthy and fully functioning without having to wait for symptoms to let them know they need care. These patients know from experience, usually, that it’s much less expensive and much less painfull to stay well than it is to get well.

Another great advantage of making spinal adjustments with the Activator adjusting instrument is that it is a thousand times faster than using our hands so there is no cracking or popping sounds. Patients benefit because the adjustment is much more comfortable than a hand adjustment might be.

  1. Hey Doc!

I really like the Activator for my pediatric and geriatric patients. I must admit that I use palpation more than the checks. However, now that I’m on bedrest with baby #2, it is a good time to review the checks. I like your practice website. I’m looking to open my own practice within a year. I’m always looking for new ideas! Thanks for stopping by at my blog. I love the vibrant, inspiring pictures with your posts.

  2. Thanks for the compliments. I got very comfortable with the Activator Leg Check immediately because I already had many years of checking legs supine. My confidence and reliance on the actual Scan was and is limited, but stress checking everthing in the Scan is not very time consuming by my standards and is very easy – in terms of seeing the changes in the legs. I use the Scan then to double check everything after I have gone all the way through the system stress checking and adjusting (by whatever means).

I found the Scan to also be a little tricky if the psoas was overly tight on one side or there are shoulder issues interfering. Again, a good reason to stress test everything first.

    Best of luck,

    DrD

  3. Hi Dennis!

Thanks for getting the word out about Dr. Weil. It’s one more way to get chiropractic validated in the minds of patients!

  5. Dear DrD,

I actually liked the first part of that article- Chiropractic care is, in my opinion, possibly the fastest growing medical interest. I run a free website for doctors that gets them connected to patients, and lets them search for patients (again, for free- just telling you about it- don’t you dare think I’m spamming you!)…More doctors sign up, and patients look for chiropractic services than anything else! This Dr. Weil seems like a smart guy, by the way, and I like your blog!

    Cheers,
    Alijor

  6. Dr. Weil is smart enough: he knows that there is something very powerful about chiropractic care applied well, and that whatever that is it can’t be obtained with any other kind of care. I have no idea whether he has actually tried Activator care but he must at least feel it’s a safe referral (safe for him as well as those who seek the care). At any rate he’s smart enough to profit from the relationship with Activator – and the Activator practitioners who are willing to pay to be listed on his site – no matter how it works out for anyone else.

It’s quite backward that something as safe as chiropractic care should have to seek credibility via affiliation with celebrity medical people (of whatever flavor). But it’s the way it is. Global warming has now made to the Oprah show – Al Gore was on last night with his “Inconvenient Truth” presentation – so maybe that issue will gain some credibililty amongst the masses as well.

  7. The activator method coupled with trigger point release taut bands in the surrounding muscle has proven very effective.

  8. I don’t know what that means exactly but if you have a reference I’ll look it up. I’ve integrated Activator with a number of other things I do and I like the results I get. The prone leg check stress test (or challenge) is very versatile – I even use it to check acu-points and hold the ones that balance the legs for a very nice effect. Of course it all takes time.

  9. Activator technique is very powerful and effective. We’ve had a number of MDs come to our office as patients specifically for the Activator technique long before Dr. Weil got on board.
