Chiropractic Care is For Children Too!

By Maria Luchsinger

My first child was seven about twenty years ago. I would lay awake at night wondering if she was going to breathe properly. She had developed asthmatic symptoms so I took her to a medical doctor. The doctor recommended that she start taking medicine with an inhaler to help her. Neither one of us were very interested in doing this, especially for the long term.

At that time, I was doing child care in my home. One of the boys had a grandfather who was a chiropractor. His name was Dr. Thomas Hurst and he is still practicing today. My husband and I had both received chiropractic care but had not considered taking our child.

It seemed like a foreign idea to us, but we decided to try it. From the first adjustment forward she showed major improvement. Her lungs cleared and she did not have to proceed with the medicinal option. We were thankful and happy that she received such great help.

Before we took Tara to the chiropractor, there was not a book available that I could find to explain to her what would be happening. After our experience, I decided to write one and consulted with chiropractors about the content. However, the publishing options we have today were non-existent and so the book remained in my notebook until last year. After finding a great illustrator, Sammy the Centipede Goes to the Chiropractor was published in February of 2013.

If your child is apprehensive about going to the chiropractor, Sammy will explain what will happen in a fun and interesting way. The book has been reviewed and well-received by chiropractors for their patients.

Sammy the Centipede Goes to the Chiropractor is part of a book series that I am writing on wellness topics for children and may be found at Marialuchsinger.com . You will get a 20% discount on any books by using CODE 446WBF3V if you order by January 31, 2014.

Sammy the Centipede also has his own Facebook page if you would like to get health tips delivered directly to you by Sammy.
