Where Do We Go?

Cool huh?

Cool huh?

Years ago I started using the phrase, “inside the Form” to describe what happens while performing the Hand Form. Here, the Founder of World Tai Chi & Gi Gong Day takes shot at describing some aspects of that experience – it actually goes beyond words. (This is from his most recent email newsletter, if you are interested. I often take stuff from it to put on the Blog.

“When I was young and new to Tai Chi, as mentioned above, I felt that masters “went somewhere else” when I saw that look on their faces, but now I know where they go.

They go deep into the center of “here and now.” They are feeling every micron of their foot pressing into the earth, every deep skeletal muscle relaxing on the bones, the ebb and flow of filling and emptying, and the flow of Qi expanding through their body … all at the same time … in a state beyond intellect or explanation.

Tai Chi and Qigong don’t take us out of our world, they take us deep into the center of our world in a mindfulness that is unequaled.

What is different for those who learn Tai Chi and Qigong, is that we start to realize that the world swirling around us is not the entire world, and that there is an entire universe of sensation within us just waiting to be discovered and enjoyed.

This internal world is profoundly important, because all our actions and thoughts that create our lives “out there” are vapors lifting from the inner world we fall into “in here” when we let go of the world around us and freefall into the center of where we are, allowing our minds to relax open to the pleasure sensations of the body in motion, letting go, sinking, breathing, and flowing.”
