One-Legged Balance Test & Dementia


Not being able to balance on one leg for at least 20 seconds turns out to be a predictor of future dementia. We test all new patients for their ability to stand on one leg, usually just with the eyes open. It helps screen people who need work on balance so they can avoid future falls, and all the drama that goes with that.

The Study discussed in the above article highlights yet another important reason for evaluating your balance.
